World Darts Championships: Day 7 Afternoon Session Preview

By Aidan Smyth

O’Shea vs Labanauskas

These two have met twice before, with one win apiece, most recently when O’Shea beat him 6-4 at the start of November. Labanauskas is fairly consistent and will likely average around the low 90’s, but O’Shea will fancy his chances here. He was beaten 6-0 when last in a TV major by Clayton in the Players Championship finals, but he had a torrid time on the doubles and still averaged close to 96. That level should be plenty good enough to see off Labanauskas here.

O’Shea to win 3-1 - 7/2

O’Shea to win and hit most 180’s - 9/4

Kleermaker vs Han

Kleermaker comes into this game as a massive odds on favourite and rightly so, the big Dutchman is extremely consistent and has picked up some big scalps on the tour this year. He beat Whitlock and Cullen here last year before exiting to James Wade in round 4, but it would be no surprise to see a landslide victory here.

Kleermaker to win 3-0 - 8/13

Kleermaker to win the match treble - 6/4

Rydz vs Rock

This is probably the best tie of round 2 and one that most cannot wait for. Rock has fast become the hottest young property in darts, but against Rydz, he’s up against a man who loves the world stage, and came mighty close to knocking out last years eventual winner Peter Wright in the Quarter Finals. I’m expecting lots of legs, lots of 180’s and lots of big finishes here.

Rock to win 3-1 or 3-2 - 1/1

7+ match 180’s, both to hit 3 180’s, 1+ 100+ checkout in the match and 4+ sets - 1/1

Rock to hit most 180’s and 4+ sets - 11/8

Match to have over 16.5 legs, over 8.5 180’s and a Highest Checkout over 128.5 - 4/1

Chisnall vs Gilding

Gilding came through a tight game against Robert Owen on Monday, but he played at a level far below what we expected from Goldfinger. Chizzy was very good in the Players Championship, averaging 99 and 102 in his two games, and was very unlucky to lose to Williams despite a much higher average. Chizzy has won all 3 previous meetings with Gilding and I don’t expect this to be any different.

Chisnall to win 3-0 or 3-1 - 8/11

Chisnall to win and hit most 180’s - 8/11

Chisnall to hit the first and last 180 - 7/4

Acca

O’Shea and Chisnall to win & hit most 180’s, Rock to hit most 180’s and 4+ sets - 12/1
