World Darts Championships: 2022 Outright Tips

By Zach Garrard

3 weeks of tension, drama and unpredictable outcomes await us as one door slams shut with the World Cup, the darts begins.

Starting at the top of the market Michael Van Gerwen (3/1) looks a stellar favourite to take home his 11th title of the year. This is by far the most convincing MVG has looked in years and seems to be in a great place with his Darts. Picking up a seventh Players Championship title of his career less than a month ago shows he is coming into this tournament in the right way.

Averaging 98.45 on the TV at the moment which is the highest of all the PDC players I believe he is well worth a strong bet to bring the championship back to Holland once more.

In the bottom section last years winner Peter Wright (11/1) stands out at a whopping price. Obviously there has been mitigating circumstances which has been responsible for some dips of form but in a recent interview this external factors seem to be clearing up and we can expect Peter to go far in his search for a 3rd title. I think 11/1 could look extremely large in just over 3 weeks time if Peter Wright can find his A game once more on the big stage.

Peter Wright’s side of the draw also looks quite a kind one with none of the players apart from Nathan Aspinall in great form and maybe he could have a few games to find back his form and as last year really turn it on when it matters.

At 40/1 I think Nathan Aspinall is well worth an E/W poke paying 4 places. Again focusing on Peter Wrights quarter I see apart from the two mentioned it to be quite open with players such as Jonny Clayton and Dimi Van Den Bergh not playing their best stuff. If Peter Wright was to have an off game as shown in the last TV major where Aspinall beat Wright then I believe Aspinall could be the one to take him down. Once at the semi-finals we would be guaranteed at a nice payout and then a meeting with probably MVG for a free hit. Also at 9/1 to just win the 3rd Quarter I believe could be a good bet.

BETS:

Michael Van Gerwen to win – 3/1 (5 POINTS)

Peter Wright to win – 11/1 (2 POINTS)

Nathan Aspinall to win – 40/1 E/W (0.5 points)
