World Darts Championship: Quarter Finals Afternoon Session

By Ryan Skidmore

Dimitri Van Den Bergh vs Jonny Clayton

This promises to be a cracker with both players playing some good darts this tournament, however I am just leaning towards a victory for Jonny Clayton in this one. The Ferret has averaged 96.51 for the event compared to the Dreammakers 94.86 so is throwing a bit better overall. Despite this, Van Den Bergh has been hitting more 180’s and will probably do that again with the extended format. I think it will go a fair distance too and there could be some showcase checkouts on top.

Prediction: Van Den Bergh 3-5 Clayton

Bets:

Clayton to win & Van Den Bergh to hit most 180’s - 9/4

Clayton to Checkout on D16 6+ times - 7/4

Michael Smith vs Stephen Bunting

Based off the games Bunting has been involved in, this will be a cracker! The Bullet has been playing out of his skin in the last few rounds to beat Chisnall and Humphries but Michael Smith has started to show signs of his best, averaging 103.25 against Joe Cullen to dispatch him in the last round. Bully Boy hasn’t been flying on the 180 front as expected yet but if he can resolve that with his practice then Bunting will have to improve again to get by him.

Prediction: Smith 5-3 Bunting
