Ross Smith vs Dirk Van Duijvenbode
I have had this earmarked as the tie of the round and it should really be a cracker with 180 hitting galore. Dirk hit 12 in his opener against Sedlacek and Smith hit 10 against Labanauskas, Smith doing that in 5 less legs too. They met at this round last year with Dirk overcoming a 3-0 deficit to win, however I think Smudger is a better player now and fancy him to win against the Aubergenius who can be a hot head at times.
Prediction: Smith 4-2 Van Duijvenbode
Bets:
Smith to win - 11/8
Smith to win & hit most 180’s - 5/2
Both players to hit 10+ 180’s - 3/1
Both players to hit 10+ 180’s each, 1+ 100+ checkout each & 1+ Bull finish each - 16/1
Rob Cross vs Mervyn King
Rob Cross put in one of the best performances of the tournament to see off Scott Williams in round 2 and he should have too much for Mervyn King who isn’t producing his best at the moment. King could only average 94 against Baggish compared to Cross’ 99 against Williams and Voltage should be able to bolt through this one in style.
Prediction: Cross 4-1 King
Bets:
Cross to win and hit most 180’s - 4/5
Dave Chisnall vs Stephen Bunting
Chisnall has had a better season than Bunting and pairing that with his record against the Bullet, I fully expect Chizzy to get the job done. Chisnall has won his last 8 matches against Bunting and has whitewashed him 6-0 in the last 2 TV events they have faced off. Chisnall is a very healthy maximum hitter and will probably hit more than Bunting if on form too so that looks the best play in this match.
Prediction: Chisnall 4-1 Bunting
Bets:
Chisnall to win and hit most 180’s - 5/4
Double of the day
Cross & Chisnall both to win & hit most 180’s - 4/1
