World Cup: LadyD Treble

By LadyD

After a controversial opening, the World Cup has finally started!

With three cracking games ahead, I've had a look into the fixtures in order to find what will hopefully be a winning bet!

England v Iran: Harry Kane to score anytime + England to win -1 (2.38)

  • Winless in their last 6 games, England have threatened to unhinge their own bid for a first World Cup tournament win since 1966. However, they did fly through qualifying with an undefeated record (8 wins 2 draws) and a goal difference of +36.

  • Harry Kane has been in impressive form domestically with 12 goals in 15 games, and will once again be the focal point of any England attack. The reigning golden boot holder will look to retain his title, and although Iran have shown some defensive strength in recent times, it is hard to ignore the challenge that lies ahead.

Senegal v Netherlands: Netherlands to win (1.58)

  • Star-man Sadio Mane will sadly play no part in this World Cup for Senegal, which will have a major impact on this side that won the AFCON earlier this year.

  • Netherlands have won 12 and drawn 5 on their 19 matchups against CAF nations

  • Netherlands come into this game on a 14-game unbeaten streak, and with wins over the lines of Belgium and Poland during this run, the Dutch will be confident of finishing Group A top of the pile

USA v Wales: Over 2.50 Cards, Bale to have 1+ Shot on Target, Over 0.5 Goals (2.15)

  • Abdulrahman Al-Jassim produced 7 yellow cards in the only international game he has taken charge of in his career, and averages 4.42 yellow cards per game domestically.

  • The Welsh talisman Gareth Bale comes into this World Cup on the back of an impressive Qualifying campaign in which he scored 5 and assisted 4. A different opposition today, but one that will allow Wales to create a handful of chances.

  • There have been over 0.5 goals in every game that Wales have taken part in since September 2021
