West Ham v Chelsea: Preview and Tips

The early kick off today is from East London where Chelsea travel to West Ham. Both these sides have had very underwhelming campaigns so far, possibly a result of the mass of fixtures they’ve had over the past few seasons, but both come here in desperate need of a win.

The last time Chelsea won an away league game was back in October, record signing Enzo had never started for Argentina, and had just 9 starts for Benfica to his name. They’ve also won just 1 of their last 5 visits to West Ham so it is by no means a guarantee that the West Londoners pick up the 3 points.

West Ham have won just 1 of their last 4 home games, a 2-0 win over Everton which saw Frank Lampard lose his job. They sit worryingly in 17th and are just a point above the relegation places, so it really feels like a must win game for both.

Chelsea will have their January signings in numbers here, Enzo was solid on his debut and Joao Felix is back from his suspension. Felix was Chelsea’s most lively player until his red card on his debut, and had 6 shots, 4 of which on target, before his shocking tackle saw him head for an early shower. Chelsea have lacked a goal scorer all season, they have the lowest number of goals in the top half by a distance, scoring 10 goals less than the next lowest, Fulham. The return of Felix should give them more of a goal threat and certainly having someone not afraid to shoot will make a huge difference, Binkbet have boosted the forward to score anytime to 7/2 and that looks an enormous price to me.

West Ham are also without a few key players, both Zouma and Kehrer are not expected to play, so the defence does look a little light to me. With the abundance of talent Chelsea having coming back from injury, coupled with the new signings that have come in, I’d expect them to have too much for this West Ham team and at odds against, I think Chelsea are a cracking price to kickstart Super Saturday with a win.

My last selection in the match is Aguerd to be carded for The Hammers. The centre back has seen yellow in 3 of his last 5 Premier League matches, and if the Fulham game is anything to go by, he could be up against a very fluid, interchanging Chelsea forward line today. Mudryk drew a yellow card from Milner almost instantly on his debut, and Felix was fouled 4 times on his debut, and it is definitely not inconceivable that Aguerd is left 1v1 with one of the pair at some point in the game, and if he does a yellow card could be very likely.

BinkBet Bets:

Felix to score anytime - Boosted from 11/4 > 7/2 with BinkBet

Chelsea to win - 6/5

Aguerd to be carded - 4/1
