Wednesday Racing: Best Bets

By Louis Moir

Three selections for me today:

One World in 15:35 Newmarket British EBF Future Stayers Nursery at 5/1 (QuinnBet)

Man O Work in 16:30 Navan Safer Gambling Navan Maiden at 3/1 (QuinnBet)

Sassy Redhead in 17:00 Kempton Unibet Horserace Betting Operator Of The Year Nursery at 8/1 (QuinnBet)

ONE WORLD is a 2 year old son of Sea The Stars who won on debut at Haydock over 7f beating Courageous Knight by a nose that day. He then doubled his tally having been gelded when beating Forceful Speed by a length back in Novice Company at Newcastle last month, despite being a tad wayward when running under some pressure. Forceful Speed then went on to win last time out, so the form has been boosted to give One World another chance of making a bold bid for what would be his third career success so far.

5(5) One World 29

Age: 2 Weight: 9-0 Jockey: Frankie Dettori Trainer: John & Thady Gosden OR: 85

Form: 10221

Unexposed at middle distances, but is fancied to go very well again. He also has some decent looking form that ties in closely with One Nation who he faces here today on a piece of summer form on the July course. He is nicely bred and rates a solid contender back at handicap level.

MAN O WORK has been a useful jumps winner and he makes his GB/IRE flat debut here today. This 4 year old gelding found himself finishing second of 14 other rivals in a handicap hurdle at Listowel 30 days ago, faring best of the rest when held up. You would like to think he has a solid chance here on the flat and there is no reason why he should not win races when giving it a go away from jumping hurdles.

5(1) Man O Work 30

Age: 4 Weight: 10-1 Jockey: Chris Hayes Trainer: P. G. Fahey OR: -

Form:

Although he finished 12 lengths behind fourth placed Il Etait Temps on his penultimate start, he was running alongside some of the very best horses such as HMS Seahorse, Fil Dor and Vauban. That little bit of experience may put him in good stead here today where he finds himself in much calmer waters.

SASSY REDHEAD ran her best race when second of 17 rivals in a nursery at Leicester over 6f on good to firm ground 15 days ago. This 2 year old filly makes her all-weather debut and she is certainly a contender in what looks an open race. She was declared to run at Yarmouth yesterday in a Class 5 event, but was withdrawn as a non-runner and todays contest is in fact a Class 6 event, so on the basis of that she has a much stronger chance against so called ‘weaker’ opposition.

8(5) Sassy Redhead 15

Age: 2 Weight: 9-7 Jockey: Nicola Currie Trainer: William Stone OR: 58

Form: 484362

She has shown some ability, therefore the filly has been put up 4lb for that latest performance. She will need to improve a bit more in order to go one better on AW debut, but is strongly fancied for trainer William Stone who is looking to get his first winner out of his last 8 runners in the past 14 days.
