Tuesday Football: Best Bets

By Jack Daly

Brighton v Nottingham Forest

19:30 BST, Tuesday

TV Channel: Amazon Prime

Brighton 4/11, Draw 4/1, Forest 13/2

Brighton 6+ corners in the match and Solly March 1+ Shot on Target – 12/5

It’s Playtime as the Forest Twitter Admin would say. That tweet did not go down well and was used in the Wolves team talk on the weekend before Forest slumped to a 1-0 defeat in the Black Country.

Brighton come into this clash in 7th place whilst their East Midlands visitors are languishing at the bottom of the league table in dead last. A Brighton win seems a foregone conclusion here even after their disappointing defeat against an Ivan Toney inspired Brentford on Friday.

We start in the corners market which has been a profitable area for us so far. Brighton have taken 28 corners in their 4 home Premier League matches this season at an average of 7 per match. Against a defensively poor Forest side I expect them to reach these numbers again. Forest concede on average 7.4 corners per match in away games this season. I’m going for 6+ corners for Brighton in the match.

Brighton should see plenty of the ball and do plenty with it. Solly March has become a regular for Brighton this season and has played a full 90 in each of his last 5 matches. He has averaged 1 shot on targer per game this season and he is evens to do the same today, so we’re going for March 1+ shot on target. If he doesn’t start, I’d advise swapping him out for Pascal Grob at a similar price.

Score Prediction: Brighton 2-0 Forest (5/1)

Crystal Palace v Wolves

20:15 BST, Tuesday

TV Channel: Amazon Prime

Crystal Palace 5/4, Draw 21/10, Wolves 12/5

Both teams to receive 1+ card, Under 12 corners in the match for both teams combined, Zaha 1+ Shot on Target – 11/10

13th plays 17th at Selhurst Park on Tuesday evening. Wolves put their 3 game losing streak to an end with a narrow 1-0 win against lowly Nottingham Forest on Saturday and they’ll be looking to build on that with 3 more points in South London. Palace have been in mixed form recently and have only picked up one win in their last six games. Both teams will be confident of securing a result.

We’re going for a slightly longer bet today to try and pick up little bits of value in a few markets.

Starting with the cards. Palace average 1.9 cards per match at home this season so we’re going for over 1 card for them. Similarly, Wolves average 1.8 cards in away matches this season so we’re going the same for them, over 1 card for them aswell. Simple.

Off to corners now. Neither team are prolific corner takers. Palace have taken 21 corners in 5 home matches this season, at an average of 4.2 corners per match. Once again, Wolves have a similar tale when it comes to corners. They have taken 23 corners in 5 away matches this season at an average of 4.6 corners per match. Under 12 corners is where we’re going in this match. The Under corners worked for us last time, so fingers crossed.

We can’t have a Palace bet without looking at Wilf Zaha. The Palace talisman has averaged 6 shots on target in his last 4 home league matches. We just need him to have one in this bet as we’re going for Zaha 1+ Shot on Target.

Score Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves (8/1)
