Snooker: Masters Final 2023 Preview

Mark Williams meets Judd Trump in todays Masters final. Trump has scraped his way here, beating Day and Hawkins in last frame deciders before a 6-1 win over Bingham yesterday which was nowhere near as convincing as the score line suggests. Williams saw off Gilbert easily in round 1 before edging out his fellow class of ‘92 star Ronnie O’Sullivan in an absolute classic, and then dispatching Lisowski comfortably yesterday.

Judd Trump could come here and find red hot form and blow Williams away, but on the basis of what we’ve seen throughout the week, the fact Williams is the outsider amazes me and I fully expect the Welsh Potting Machine to win yet another triple crown title.

Williams made 2 centuries in both his first 2 games, including a special 143 against O’Sullivan and with some really slack safety play from Trump yesterday, Williams centuries is an appealing market here. He’s 5/6 to hit over 1.5 centuries and that seems like great value.

I will also be looking at Williams on the handicap, if Trump plays to the standard we’ve seen this week it could be real one way traffic, so I’m also taking the 12/5 on Williams to win -2.5 frames. With so much sporting action today, some of the value on Williams is too good not to throw into an acca.

Prediction - Williams 10 v 5 Trump

Bets - Williams to win - 11/10

Williams over 2.5 century breaks - 11/4

Williams to win -2.5 frames - 12/5
