SPYCATCHER was impressive on his comeback run last time, winning a conditions race at Thirsk readily. He relished the strong pace set by the keen going Mount Athos which allowed him to settle off the pace and cruise into the race before displaying a smart turn of foot to see of his rivals.
Karl Burke’s horse has to be highly respected today back in a handicap for the first time in over a year after such a good showing last week and despite having top weight, he looks likely to put in a good fight to defy that hinderance, especially with Pierre Louise Jamin taking off a handy 3lb. I didn’t expect him to be available to back at odds where if he hits the frame, you get your money back and looks worth backing accordingly.

16:10 - Vintage Clarets 11/4 1pt win
It was hard not to be taken by the effort of VINTAGE CLARETS at Musselburgh last time when he flew home from off the pace to finish 2nd to Silky Wilkie. He found so much trouble in running there as is the nature of the track but will hopefully have some better luck today at the garden racecourse. The handicapper has kept him off the same mark of 91 and while he is not obviously well handicapped, he is ground versatile and quite consistent and he looks set to run another big race today in a race which could set up ideally for him with lots of early pace likely.
