NFL Season-Long Passing, Rushing and Receiving Leaders Tips

NFL Season-Long Passing, Rushing and Receiving Leaders Tips

The NFL season gets underway in the early hours of Friday morning and after selecting which teams will do well, now is the time to pick out the players who will star in 2024.

There are plenty of obvious candidates and last season it paid to side with the favourites in the rushing and receiving markers. Christian McCaffrey led the league in rushing yards whilst Tyreek Hill dominated the receiving yards, however, there was a shock name leading the passing charts.

Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa led the way with 4,624 yards with pre-season favourite Patrick Mahomes way back in sixth with 4,183. Mahomes is once again this year’s favourite, as are both CMC and Tyreek Hill but only one of those men has been tipped up today.

  • Stroud (Passing), Jacobs (Rushing) and Hill (Receiving) yards leaders - 996/1 (Bet Victor) 0.25 Point Patent

Who will be the NFL passing leaders in 2024?

Depending on bookmakers the market favourite fluctuates but with Patrick Mahomes now having the likes of Hollywood Brown and new rookie Xavier Worthy to pair with second-year Rashee Rice and veteran Travis Kelce, he is the consensus favourite.

There is an outright second favourite and that is CJ Stroud who at 13/2 looks a brilliant bet to have the most passing yards this year. The Texans QB had an incredible rookie campaign and was just 75 yards shy of Mahomes, boasting 4,108 passing yards in just 15 games.

His average yards per game of 273.9 led the league among those who had played ten or more games and there is no reason why he can’t do that in 2024 with Tank Dell returning from injury and Stefon Diggs being acquired in the off-season.

  • Most Passing Yards - CJ Stroud (13/2) - 2 point win

A rookie who looks set to impress this season is Washington’s Jayden Daniels with the dual-threat out of LSU going second overall in the NFL draft. He has replaced Sam Howell who moved to Seattle in the off-season meaning Daniels is the clear starter, however, he enters a troubled situation.

Wide Receiver Jahan Dotson has been traded to division rivals the Eagles and Washington weren’t blessed with a good receiving core initially. That makes Daniels a bet on two different markets; most interceptions thrown (12/1) and most rushing yards by a rookie (10/3).

Washington’s Sam Howell led the league for interceptions in 2023 and it could be the same for the Commanders this year. Back in 2021 when playing at Arizona State with a sub-par receiving core, as he will this year, Daniels threw 10 interceptions and the fact he will likely have to force passes to chase games makes the price look too good to ignore.

  • Most Interceptions - Jayden Daniels (12/1) - 1 point win

As is the 10/3 for him to be the leading rushing rookie. A poor running-back class means that no player stands out and Daniels 1,134 yard campaign on the ground in 2023 makes him a standout in the market and a justified favourite.

  • Most Rookie Rushing Yards - Jayden Daniels (10/3) - 3 Point Win

Who will be the NFL rushing leaders in 2024?

After talk of Daniels leading the way for rookies in rushing, it moves nicely onto who will lead the league and challenge CMC for his crown. The 49ers talisman was dominant last season and that’s seen his price slashed once again, perhaps justifiably.

However, at such a price he’s worth taking on and there looks to be a very strong candidate in Josh Jacobs who almost had a year off in 2023 with the former Raider clearly not going full-flow in the season. In 13 games he still made 805 yards but that was less than half of his career-best 2022 campaign that saw him record 1,653 yards and 12 TDs.

That figure is almost 200 yards more than what CMC led the league with in 2023 and with Jacobs now finding a new home where he will be happy and have 100% of the workload after Aaron Jones’ move to Minnesota and AJ Dillon’s season-ending injury, Jacobs represents brilliant value at 18/1 (Bet Victor).

  • Most Rushing Yards - Josh Jacobs (18/1 Bet Victor) - 1.5 Point Win

Jacobs could well hit the heights of his 2022 season and snag 12 TDs and at 22/1, he is worth consideration, but Jalen Hurts looks a great alternative to CMC (15/2). The Eagles QB is priced at 10/1 and has consistently hit the heights when it comes to rushing TDs, recording 10, 13 and 15 in his last three years, showing a steady incline.

Miami’s Raheem Mostert beat both Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts out last year but that production is unrealistic considering he has only scored 16 in his eight NFL seasons before then. Hurts offers consistent numbers that are increasing, however, the addition of Saquon Barkley is of clear concern. But with the ‘Tush Push’ still legal, Hurts can assure himself double figures and contest this market.

  • Most Rushing Touchdowns - Jalen Hurts (10/1) - 1.5 Point Win

Who will be the NFL’s receiving leaders in 2024?

Whilst we’ve challenged the favourite for passing and rushing, Tyreek Hill stands out in the receiving department and that all is down to his breakaway speed. The ‘Cheetah’ is electric and he looked set for 2,000 yards at one point in 2023.

Ultimately, he slowed down and across the 16 games he recorded 1,799 yards with a whopping 652 (4th-most in NFL) coming after the catch. He ended up hauling in 13 TDs as a result of that breakaway speed with an incredible 112.4 yard per game average.

Others such as Ceedee Lamb (135 receptions in 2023 which led the NFL) will have a greater target share but the beauty of Hill is that weapons such as Waddle, Mostert and Achane will draw attention and offer him softer coverage than what the Cowboys’ number one will receive meaning more yards after the catch.

The bets are two-fold, Hill to lead the NFL in yards and Lamb to lead the league in receptions with both priced nicely at 6/1 and 11/2.

  • Most Receiving Yards - Tyreek Hill (6/1 (Bet Victor) - 2 Point Win

  • Most Receptions - Ceedee Lamb (11/2) - 2 Point Win

There could still be value in the receiving yards market though and a longer odds punt would be Cooper Kupp at 40/1. Obviously, he has Puka Nacua to contest with now with the rookie drawing 105 catches for a whopping 1,486 yards last year, however, Kupp is still Stafford’s number one guy.

Moreover, he is now reportedly healthy and looking brilliant in training camp and the last time we saw a healthy Cooper Kupp, he won the NFL triple-crown with the most receiving yards, receptions and receiving touchdowns. At 40/1 the 31-year-old could be set for another massive season.

  • Most Receiving Yards - Cooper Kupp (40/1) - 0.5 Point Win

Kupp is a 33/1 shot to have the most receiving touchdowns which is a tempting price but Mike Evans at 16/1 is the bet. The Buccaneers veteran is Mr Consistent and heading into year 11 in the NFL, he’s still as dominant as ever.

Evans has hit the 1,000 yard mark every single year but he’s started to become a redzone target monster and that’s seen him haul in 13 of more touchdowns in each of his last three seasons, including in 2023. That consistency is unrivalled and he’s certainly worth a look at that price.

  • Most Receiving Touchdowns - Mike Evans (16/1) 1 Point Win

From all the above bets, the strongest fancies are Stroud to lead the NFL in passing, Hill to go back-to-back as a receiving leader and Josh Jacobs to be resurgent on the ground at his new team. The three selections combine to make a 996/1 accumulator on Bet Victor with a £1 patent (£7 total stake) potentially set to pay £1,359.

  • Stroud (Passing), Jacobs (Rushing) and Hill (Receiving) yards leaders - 996/1 (Bet Victor) 0.25 Point Patent
