Monday Racing: Best Bets

By LadyD

With 4 winners from 7 selections last week, I'm hoping to continue that form heading into another exciting week of racing, and one that is likely to be impacted be the torrential rain hitting the country.

Tfou in 14:40 Ayr Coral Get Closer To The Action Novices' Handicap Chase (15/8)

Nells Son in 15:15 Ayr Coral Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (5/4)

This son of Authorized has shown great promise in all three starts so far, and could see further improvement over the larger obstacles being faced today.

TFOU finished second to a very useful mare (Burn The Evidence) back in January, a horse that has gone onto win twice since. TFOU is an interesting prospect now that he goes chasing, and this a lovely looking race which Nicky Richards will believe to be very winnable.

With all four runners being chase debutants there are a few variables that are hard to account for, however NELLS SON was the highest rated of these horses over hurdles, and with Nicky Richards in great form (38% success rate over the last 14 days) I am backing hi to train back to back winners in the 14:40 and 15:15 races at Ayr.

Winning a grade 2 in March, NELLS SON will look to build upon the 4 wins from 8 races accumulated so far, and although Since Day One will offer a strong challenge, it is hard to ignore the form of Nicky Richards as well as the fact NELLS SON is proven on Good/Soft/Heavy which will play a key role based on weather forecast.
