Hallybhoy11: Tuesday Night Championship Preview

By John Hall

Huddersfield v Preston

A poor start to the season by Huddersfield sees them lying second bottom of the championship. However the shining light has been their where they have managed three wins and a draw to give them 10 of their 11 points this season. Preston have been notoriously low scorers this campaign having netted just 8 times. Half the amount Huddersfield have managed. Preston have played two more games too incredibly which in reflected in the goal averages: Huddersfield 1.23 per game; Preston 0.53 per game. Preston have drawn 0-0 six times in their 15 leagues games, and although both teams are struggling I think Huddersfield will win this at 15/8. My score prediction is 2-0 (12/1)

Norwich v Luton

The canaries are sat nicely in 3rd place after recovering from a shaky start to the season. Josh Sargent has found the net 8 times in 14 games, which has helped see them climb back up the table. That said, they are winless in 3 games and only kept one clean sheet in their last six matches. Visitors Luton are having an excellent season and are only 3 points behind Norwich heading into this game. They have taken 11 points from possible 18 on the road including a draw at Burnley. I think this will be tight but feel if Norwich are at their best, it's the game they should be winning as they aim for promotion. I like Norwich to win + over 2.5 goals in the game at 9/4. My correct score prediction is 2-1 (15/2)

Swansea v Reading

Swansea have won four of their last five games, with confidence high (even after a 4-0 loss to Burnley) and an XG of 1.37 they will looking to leap from Reading into the play-offs with a win. Reading have lost their last two games and have been inconsistent all season, but a strong start to the season has them sat in the play-offs before a ball is kicked this gameweek.. Both teams have averaged over a goal per game (Swansea 1.21; Reading 1.07) but still have negative goal differences. This leads me to think BTTS is the safe bet at 4/5.My correct score prediction is 2-1 Swansea (15/2)

Blackburn v Sunderland

Blackburn are riding high in 5th place winning their last 3 home games scoring 7 in the process. Their star striker Ben Brereton Diaz has found the net 7 times in 15 games. Sunderland have hit a tricky patch since losing their two main strikers Ross Stewart and Ellis Simms. They got back to winning ways with a good home win against Wigan coming from behind and can be hard to beat, losing just 4 in 14 league games. I can see both teams scoring at 4/5. My correct score prediction is 1-1 (11/2)

Stoke v Rotherham

Stoke finally starting to find their form under new boss Alex Neil having taken 7 points from their last 9 including a 1-1 draw away to leaders Burnley. Rotherham have failed to score in their last 3 away games and could struggle again I feel, especially against a confident Stoke side. My best bet is Stoke to at 10/11. My correct score prediction is Stoke to win 2-0 (8/1)

West Brom v Bristol City

West Brom have had an awful season so far which has ultimately led to Steve Bruce losing his job. They did pick up a victory in their last game which tends to happen once manager leaves, and they will look to build upon that 2-0 away win. Bristol City we’re beaten at home to Millwall in last game and have only won 5 in 15 league games this season. I expect the West Brom momentum to continue and they can get the win at 5/7. My correct score prediction is 1-0 (13/2)

Huddersfield +1 - 1/2

Norwich win with over 2.5 - 9/4

Swansea/Reading BTTS - 4/5

Blackburn/Sunderland BTTS - 4/5

Stoke win - 10/11

West Brom win - 5/7
