A match between two relatively unknown European teams (no disrespect to either club) but a match of great significance in Group H. Ferencvaros, the Hungarian League leaders are looking for their 3rd win out of 4 games in this group having already brushed aside Monaco & Trabzonspor. They currently sit top of this group whereas tonight's opponents sit bottom, but still with a chance of qualification if they grab a win tonight. Crvena Zvezda also sit top of their domestic Serbian league and have averaged over 3 goals per match in their home division. Both sides are in need of a win today.
I expect to see goals in this game so I’m backing Yes in the Both Teams to Score market. Both teams have scored in 2 of the 3 Europa League ties that Ferencvaros have had this season, the only one that hasn’t was a 1-0 win away at Monaco where the French side ended the game with an xG of 1.1. Crvena Zvezda have the same record, with 2 of their 3 games seeing both teams find the back of the net. The exception for them, also a 1-0 scoreline against AS Monaco, with them being on the losing side. The corresponding fixture last week saw the Serbians run out 4-1 winners, there are goals to be had in this fixture.
Secondly, I’m looking at the cards market. This one really stood out. I’m going for Ferencvaros to receive over 1.5 cards in the match. They’ve averaged 3 yellow cards in the Europa League this season and have also picked up a red card during the campaign. 14 out of their 15 games this season across all competitions have seen them pick up over 1.5 cards. Not much to be said about the referee as he hasn’t refereed in this tournament since 2020, but during that time he shipped out 23 yellow cards in just 5 games so he seems to like going to his pocket.

Real Sociedad v Sheriff Tiraspol

Off to sunny Spain we go for the next double where Real Sociedad face Sheriff Tiraspol. According to the bookies this will be a walk in the park for the men from the Basque region and I’d have to agree with them.
Sociedad have won all 3 of their Europa League games in this campaign, only conceding one goal in the process. Their Moldovan (Although not really Moldovan as they hail from the unrecognised breakaway state of Transnistria, but who wants to go into politics) opponents have struggled a bit more in Europe this season. They burst onto the scene when they humbled European kings Real Madrid in their own backyard but they haven’t quite maintained that level. After a good 3-0 start against Omonia they have suffered consecutive 2-0 home defeats to Manchester United and Socieded and are now facing elimination from the competition. I expect Sociedad to carry on their 100% winning record and do so comfortably. They have scored 12 goals in their last 5 games, and I fancy them to beat Sheriff by more than one goal here.
The second part of the double looks at the corner market. With Sociedad expecting to be on the front foot throughout this game and pressuring the Sheriff defence I expect corners. Sheriff will look to sit back and soak up pressure whilst the Spaniards look for a way through. More often that not this leads to deflections and tackles behind for a corner. Soceidad picked up 9 corners in their last home league match and picked up 6 corners in the reverse fixture against Sheriff last week. I’m going for over 4.5 corners for the home team.
