We know John McConnell isn’t afraid to send his horses over the Irish Sea to Prestbury Park as we saw last season with Bardenstown Lad winning here in the exact same race 365 days ago. REXEM is his choice of ammunition this time up. He’s been racking up the wins quietly over in Ireland this summer (3 from 5), gradually running further a race at a time. He’s won on Good Ground all 3 times and takes his chance Saturday with the going in his favour. The main threat comes from Saint Palais who comes here off a 217 day break, whom appreciates much softer ground, however Rexem will be in fine tune for this and will be carrying my money around the opener.

Impressive reappearance at Listowel last time out with a good round of jumping, LIFE IN THE PARK looks set to take his chances in a small competitive field amongst an almost all Irish field. This 5 year old gelding goes up against opposition all older than him, however the Maloney’s aren’t afraid to send a horse or two over to Cheltenham as we’ve seen year in year out, not just at The Festival. Life In The Park will be right up there going down the hill turning for home and should take some stopping.

Seems to be a reoccurring theme going on here, so another Irish horse it is! MOTOWN MAGGIE looks a very similar profile to Definite Plan who won here last year for trainer Gordon Elliott. Bottom of the weights, Kennedy on board, has a great chance to go under the radar in this field and finish in the top 4 places.
