Tonight marks the return of the UEFA Champions League with a new format to suit of 36
teams battling it out for 8 automatic qualification spots with 9-24 going into a knockout game
and 25-36 leaving the competition at the group stage.
We have looked across the board and found a 4 fold accumulator I am a big fan off and looks a
nice way into the opening night of action.
REAL MADRID v Stuggart
17th September – 20:00pm UK
First is the current holders and second favourites for the competition who kick off their
campaign with a generous home game against Stuggart. Fresh off the signing of Kylian
Mbappe joining an already potent front line alongside Balon D’or favourite Vinicius Jr you
can see why they are such short favourites to win this game. Still unbeaten in the league
coming off the back of a 0-2 win away against Real Sociedad they should be full of
confidence to beat a Stuggart side who are currently 10 th place in the Bundesliga and have
been inconsistent since the start of the calendar year.
Young Boys v ASTON VILLA
17th September – 17:45pm UK
Second on the list is Aston Villa who 42 years after being crowned European champions are
back in the big competition. Villa finished fourth last year and have taken 9 points from a
possible 12 with their only defeat coming at home to Arsenal. Unai Emery is a master at the
European comps and will know how pivotal it is to get off to a good start against a much
inferior opponent. Domestically Young Boys have not started well and are bottom of the
Swiss Division without a win to their name so far. Conceding 14 goals in 6 games, Watkins,
Rogers and co should be looking to feast on an already shaky backline.
BAYERN MUNICH v Dinamo Zagreb
17th September – 20:00pm UK
Bayern Munich have started new season under Vincent Kompany on flying form winning all
4 games with the last one being a 1-6 thumping away from home. With Kane scoring a
hattrick of the back of good performances on International duty they should have far too
much for a Zagreb team who haven’t won in their last two domestic matches. The Croatians
also seem to struggle in this comp losing 7/12 showing maybe the step up is too much.
MANCHESTER UNITED v Barnsley
17th September – 20:00pm UK
Finally dropping into the Carabao cup we look at 2022 winners Manchester United to start off
with a win against League 1 Barnsley. With Ten Haag’s constant reminders of his domestic
cup success it would be extremely unlikely for him to take this lightly. This is backed up by
where 8 first choice players started their third round fixture last year. Barnsley losing their
best CB to injury on Saturday will no doubt be outclassed at Old Trafford.
Real Madrid (32/100) – VFB Stuggart
BSC Young Boys – (13/20) Aston Villa
Bayern Munich (1/9) – GNK Dinamo Zagreb
Manchester United (2/13) – Barnsley
