Champions League: Best Bets

By Jack Daly

Dinamo Zagreb v AC Milan

20:00 BST, Tuesday

TV Channel: BT Sport

Dinamo 10/3 Draw 11/4, Milan 4/5

Zagreb 1+ cards, Milan 2+ cards, both teams under 6 corners – 15/8

It’s all to play for in Group E with all four sides separated by just 3 points. These two teams find themselves at the wrong end of the table, but a win here could catapult them into the top two with just one game to go.

Zagreb have not won in this competition since the opening fixture against Chelsea. However, they can find some solace in the fact that they haven’t lost at home in this competition since 2019 when Guardiola’s side came to town. This, coupled with the fact that Milan have only won once in Europe in their last five, will give the Croatians some hope.

I fancy some bookings this evening, with both teams desperately needing a win. Milan have averaged 3.5 yellow cards in the Champions League and 2.1 yellow cards in Serie A this season and have collected 20+ booking points in 11 out of their last 13 outings. Zagreb have averaged 2 yellow cards in the Champions League. I fancy 1+ Zagreb card & 2+ Milan cards tonight.

Neither of these teams get many corners so I’m looking into the under corners market tonight. Zagreb have taken 12 corners in their 4 Champions League matches so far at an average of 3 per game. Milan have taken 1 more corner than their opponents this season with 13 in 4 matches. I fancy both teams to take under 6 corners tonight.

Score Prediction: Zagreb 1-2 AC Milan (QUINNBET odds: 15/2)

Borussia Dortmund v Manchester City

20:00 BST, Tuesday

TV Channel: BT Sport

Borussia Dortmund 4/1, Draw 10/3, Man City 3/5

Both teams under 3 cards each, Under 6 corners for Dortmund, Over 4 City corners – 9/5

Group G’s two best teams go head-to-head this evening at Signal Iduna Park. Manchester City have already qualified for the knockout stages and their German opponents could join them there if they win today. Both sides are all but guaranteed to progress through to the next stage, so this game is a battle for top spot. City won the reverse fixture 2-1 but could have easily come away on the losing side. A few debatable refereeing decisions and a Haaland winner stood in the way of a famous win for the Germans.

Neither team picks up too many yellows and commit very few fouls. Dortmund have only committed four fouls in their defensive third in this competition whilst City have committed even less, only two. Dortmund average 1.25 yellow cards in this competition with City averaging 1 yellow card per match. Therefore, I’m going for both teams to receive under 3 yellow cards each.

The corner market is where I’ve turned to next with City’s dominant wing play resulting in plenty of corners. They average 7 corners in the Champions League games this season and 6.25 in the Premier League, a consistent number. They registered 6 corners in the reverse fixture, and I expect them to do the same this time around against a Dortmund side who will look to sit back and soak up pressure. I’m going for over 4 city corners.

Dortmund do not register as many corners and will be on the backfoot for most of this evening’s game. They have taken 13 corners in 4 Champions League matches at an average of 3.25 corners per match. They only won 2 corners in the reverse fixture and I’m expecting similar tonight so I’m going for Under 6 corners for Dortmund.

Score Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1–3 Manchester City (QUINNBET odds: 10/1)
