Borussia Dortmund v Chelsea: Preview and Best Bets

There’s rumoured to be anywhere up to 81,000 fans at Dortmund tonight so it should be a special atmosphere in Germany, and hopefully the game matches it.

Chelsea are in horrific away form, their draw at the weekend against West Ham extended their winless away run to 8 games in all competitions, a very worrying stat for Graham Potter. Their were positives in the West Ham game however, Enzo Fernandez was MOTM and combined with fellow January signing Joao Felix for the Chelsea goal.

Dortmund on the other hand are absolutely flying, they’ve won 6 from 6 since the break, scoring at least 2 in all of those games. Their hot run of form, coupled with Munich slipping up, means they sit just 3 points off the top of the Bundesliga, so they will be coming into this clash full of confidence.

Chelsea will be massively boosted by having Reece James and Ben Chilwell available, but will be without Benoit Badiashile, who has become an integral part of the defence. They’ve conceded just 1 goal since he came into the team, but the Frenchman has been sacrificed in order to pick some of the new attacking talent in the squad. It’s a massive blow for Chelsea, and if Wesley Fofana isn’t fit, Chalobah or Koulibaly instantly weakens the defence.

As for Dortmund they are likely to be without young striker Youssouf Moukoko who has an ankle problem. It will be another chance to see the young English star Jude Bellingham though, he scored 4 times in the group stages, and it’ll be fascinating to see him in action against the most expensive midfielder in British history.

I can definitely see Dortmund winning this game, with the electric home atmosphere and with Chelsea missing Badiashile, Dortmunds attacking players will definitely cause Chelsea major issues. In their 6 wins since the break, 4 of them have seen over 2.5 goals, so I like Dortmund to win with over 2.5 goals in the game, which has been boosted with Binkbet.

They’ve also boosted Jude Bellingham to score anytime to 6/1. He scored 4 goals in the group stages and his late midfield runs into the box will cause massive issues if Enzo Fernandez doesn’t pick him up. It’ll be an absolutely fascinating clash in midfield, one that I cannot wait for, but if Bellingham does come out on top, the boosted price looks too good to pass up.

I will also be doing a small bet builder on the game as some of the stats for specific Chelsea players are staggering. Kai Havertz is 8/15 to have 1+ offsides, and 9/4 for 2+ offsides. The Chelsea man had 3 in the first half against West Ham and has comfortably more offsides than any other player in the league, with 24, a staggering number with only 21 games played.

Joao Felix only has a small sample size for Chelsea but in the 148 minutes he has played for them, he has already tallied 9 shots with 6 being on target, including that goal against West Ham. This also discounts the disallowed goal he had, which would have had added another 2 shots, and another 1 on target to those stats, had he timed his run slightly better. The forward is 4/7 for 1+ shot on target and a massive 11/4 for 2+ shots on target.

The double in a bet builder with SkyBet for 1+ Havertz offside and 1+ Felix shot on target pays 6/4, and this looks an absolute banker to me, I also like the 12/1 on 2+ for each as well.

Bets:

Dortmund to win and over 2.5 goals - (BinkBet Boost) 7/2

Bellingham to score anytime - (BinkBet Boost) 6/1

Havertz 1+ offside and Felix 1+ SOT - 6/4

Havertz 2+ offside and Felix 2+ SOT - 12/1
